So what exactly is ‘Pass Plus?’

Pass Plus is a short course designed by the D.S.A. to:

  • Save money on car insurance premiums
  • Gain valuable driving experience safely
  • Build on your existing skills and knowledge
  • Reduce your risk of being in a car crash
  • Boost your confidence

Who can take the course?

Once they’ve passed their test, anyone can take Pass Plus at any stage of their driving career although it’s aimed at new drivers in the first 12 months after passing!

What’s involved?

The course takes a minimum of 6 hours with a D.S.A. registered ‘Pass Plus’ Instructor, and covers six modules:

  • Introduction & Town driving
  • All-weather driving
  • Out of town driving & rural roads
  • Night driving
  • Dual carriageways
  • Motorways

Is there a test at the end of it?

No!  Your driving is continually assessed by your Instructor, during the course.

You must successfully complete each module to pass.

When you pass, your Instructor completes and submits the paperwork to the D.S.A.  They send you a Certificate of Completion.

What are the benefits?

Many car insurers give you a substantial discount* or accelerated no claims bonus.  It also reduces your chances of having an accident.

* Check online to confirm which insurers give discounts – if you passed your test more than 12 months ago, you need to check you’re still eligible.
